Where to Eat

Fort Cochin There are not many restaurants in Fort Cochin.
Hotel Seagull, Calvetty Rd, is a decent place, with a good view of the harbor.
Chariot, Princeses St, is a very popular place that serves Indian, Chinese and Western food. Most dishes Rs 40 and up.
The Elite Hotel, Princess St, has a popular restaurant serving South Indian and Western dishes.
Koshi Art Cafe, Burgher St, is a good place with good Western breakfast, cakes, and very good coffee. Recommended.

Willingdon Island The Casino Hotel has a good lunchtime buffet. The pool-side restaurant is good in the evening. It has classical Indian music.
Waterfront Cafe, in the Malabar Hotel, has a good lunch buffet for Rs 250. The Malabar Hotel also has the Chinese Jade Pavilion. The food is very good at these two places and is expensive.

Ernakulam Athul Jyoti, Shanmugham Rd, and Bharath Coffee House, Broadway, have basic veg meals for Rs 15.
The Only Veg (372-057), opp. International Hotel on Veekshanam Rd, is a pure vegetarian restaurant.
Lotus Cascades/Jaya Cafe in the Woodlands Hotel, MG Rd, has very good veg thalis for Rs 50 and good North and South Indian food. It is reasonably priced. Recommended.
Pandhal Restaurant, MG Rd, has good Keralan, North Indian and pizzas.
Bimbi’s, Shanmugham Rd near the Sealord boat jetty, is a fast-food place serving good cheap Indian and Western food. It has a large sweet shop in front. It has good masala dosas for Rs 10. There is another branch near Jos Junction.
The more expensive A/C Khyber Restaurant is upstairs serving Indian and Chinese food.
Indian Coffee House, on the corner of MG Rd and Durbar Hall Rd, serves breakfast and snacks.
The A/C Chinese Garden Restaurant, Warriom Rd, just off MG Rd, serves good Chinese food.
Hot Breads, Warriom Rd, just off MG Rd, has fresh baked goods, including brown bread, doughnuts, pizza and sandwiches.
Oven, Shanmugham Rd, near the Sealord Hotel, has baked goods.
Rooftop Sayanna Restaurant, 8th floor, Sealord Hotel, Shanmugham Rd, has good views of the harbor. The Princess Room in the Sealord Hotel has Indian, Keralan, Chinese and Western food. Dishes are Rs 50-100. It has a band.
Restaurant du Coq D’Or, International Hotel, MG Rd, is a high-class place.
Regency Restaurant, Hotel Abad Plaza, MG Rd, has good Indian, Western and Chinese food. It is a high-class place with reasonable prices.
Moghul Hut, Paulson Park Hotel, is a good tandoori restaurant.
Caravan Ice Cream, Park Ave, across from the State Bank of India, has ice cream, sundaes and milkshakes.
Utsav, Taj Residency, Marine Drive, is a good restaurant with a view of the harbor. It serves a good lunchtime buffet.
